How to set up Cash on Delivery

Updated September 2026 · TijarahOnline Help

Short answer: Cash on Delivery is already on by default — a new store can take COD orders from day one with no setup. To check or change it, go to Settings → Payment Gateways and look at the Cash on Delivery toggle.

COD is still how most Pakistani customers prefer to pay, especially from a store they have not bought from before. Offering only prepayment loses real sales.

Step by step

  1. Open payment settings. In the sidebar go to Settings → Payment Gateways.
  2. Check Cash on Delivery. The Cash on Delivery toggle should be on. There is nothing to configure — no account, no keys, no fees.
  3. Decide about OTP verification. Next to the COD toggle is an option to require an OTP. When on, the customer confirms their phone number before the order is accepted, which cuts out fake orders.
  4. Set rules for expensive orders. For high-value orders, open Settings → COD Verification to require a phone confirmation before dispatch.

Protecting yourself from refused parcels

A refused COD delivery costs you shipping both ways and ties up stock. Three things reduce it:

Cash flow matters more than the rate. Your courier collects the cash and pays you later — sometimes a week, sometimes three. Ask about remittance timing before choosing one, because it decides how much stock you can afford to buy.

Common questions

Do I pay a fee for COD?

Not to us — we take no commission on your sales on any plan. Your courier charges its own delivery and COD handling fee.

When do I get the money?

The courier collects the cash from the customer and remits it to you on their own schedule. This varies by courier, so confirm it before you sign up with one.

Can I turn COD off?

Yes, in Settings → Payment Gateways. Most Pakistani stores should not — it usually costs more in lost orders than it saves in refusals.
